Installation

Installation Step 1

Installation Step 2

2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

Class "S" Designation

SAE Class "S" tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Certain newer cars, vans and small trucks, especially those with large, aftermarket tires, may require Class "S" chains.

SAE Class S Clearances

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Snow Chain Recommendation for 2019 Thor Chateau 23U with Tire Size 225/75-16
For your 2019 Thor Chateau with the tire size 225/75-16 I would go with the Titan chains part # TC2319. These are easier to install, provide great traction, and are priced great so they would be the best all around solution for an emergency situation. Some people like to use cables for this application but they are harder to install, not much cheaper, and you only typically get one use out of them before they need to be replaced.

  • Use of Tire Chains on a 5th Wheel Trailer
Tire chains are usually only placed on a tow vehicle, and then only on the drive wheels. We do not have any experience with using or recommending them for use on the tires of a 5th wheel trailer. This is something I would approach very cautiously and only after contacting the trailer maker for approval. Have your trailer VIN handy when you call them. Chains vary in how much clearance they need within the fenders/wheel wells and this is an important consideration. Also, the specific tire...

On the low end I recommend the Titan Chain kit # TC2319 which really is a quality set of chains for what they are. They have built-in tensioning and are Class S compatible so they are low clearance. What you can do is install a set of chains on the outside tires and still get great traction in the snow. • Recommended Tire Chain Solution for 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid
According to your owner's manual, FCA states that any chains used with your tire size cannot protrude more than 9mm to the inside of the tire. Extending any further than that could cause damage. I have two alternatives that would meet that parameter. The first would be the Titan Snow Sock, part # TCH72. The stretchable fabric makes them easy to install and the fabric sticks pretty well to snow and ice providing friction. The fabric will not damage your vehicle. This being said though,...
